Vase Hagien Yoshida Tamaryuyama, Hagi
Description
This square-sectioned, narrow-necked vase is covered with a spectacular white glaze that contrasts with the warm color of the earth. It is a fine example of the work of Hagien Yoshida 1940-1986
Hagien Yoshida was born in October 1940 in Mitsutoko-nami, Hagi City.
At the age of 15, he studied under Kyusetsu Miwa, a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Properties, commonly referred to as Living National Treasures.
Later, he participated as a potter in the creation of the Tenhoyama kiln, also dedicating himself to providing technical advice and training young potters.
In 1963, he became independent and opened the “Tamaryuyama Furnace” in Tamae, Hagi City.
He died in November 1986 at the age of 46.
