Paris 2025 Ceramics Trail
On the occasion of the Parcours de la Céramique Paris 2025, Sinapango unveils a unique collection of thirteen animal sculptures by Otsu Housen (1929-2003), a master ceramist from Seto. Renowned for his sculptural power and inventiveness, Housen belongs to a generation that has successfully brought together the centuries-old tradition of Seto and the energy of contemporary Japanese art.
This exceptional presentation brings together a pair of protective shishi and several zodiac animals. What is striking is the variety of approaches: for some animals, Housen has created two different interpretations, exploring the expressive richness of the same motif. Each piece demonstrates a technical mastery and decorative force that make them both symbolic objects and true Japanese ceramic sculptures.
Rare on the European market, Housen's works appeal to both collectors and decorators seeking pieces that can interact with a contemporary interior. Expressive and deeply rooted in the Japanese imagination, they embody the universal dimension of ceramic sculpture.
