Rare Japanese merchant's chest (choba-dansu) in three-color Keyaki. It consists of drawers and sliding doors opening onto a shelf and drawers.
This shape and color combination are not common and give it an almost art deco look.

Choba-dansu chests were used by merchants on the choba (raised platform of a shop) to store daifukucho (account books) and related business materials.
Beautiful condition. Restored by our workshop.
