Nishijin Silk Cushion with Palm and Cloud Design

Contemporary cushion by Sinapango Interiors Paris, made from Japanese Nishijin-type silk. The textile is entirely silk, both on the front and on the reverse, with no metallic thread. Its quality lies in the fineness of the weave and the subtlety of the tone-on-tone design.

The pattern combines large stylised palm leaves and cloud forms in a pale, almost monochrome composition. The design is revealed by the way the light moves across the texture: some areas appear satin-like, others more matte, giving the cushion a very soft and refined presence.

In Japanese decorative arts, the cloud is an ancient motif, often used to suggest the passage of time, the movement of the natural world, and sometimes the poetic separation between two spaces. Here, it accompanies the palm leaves in a supple, ample design that is decorative rather than narrative.

The cushion is fully removable, like all Sinapango Interiors Paris cushions.
