Description
Pair of Japanese shokudai candlesticks in engraved brass, dating from the mid-19th century.
The hemispherical bases, cylindrical stems, and upper sections are engraved with chrysanthemums and foliage. The brass has a warm patina, with brown and golden variations that bring out the engraved decoration.
Their tall, balanced form corresponds to Japanese candlesticks designed to hold a candle on a spike, with an upper drip pan and metal guard.
